What Is It?
Eddy is an electronic scale reduction device that aims to emulate many of the useful features of a conventional water softener but without the initial high cost of installation, or the ongoing need for salt replenishment.
How To Install
Eddy is an easy DIY installation (full instructions supplied) and is maintenance-free. Unlike a salt-based softener, it does not reduce the measured hardness of your water, but by winding two coils of wire around your incoming cold water pipe, it generates a magnetic field through which the water passes. In this way the troublesome hard limescale should be changed to a type that is less easily deposited on hard surfaces and therefore the daily nuisance of limescale should be much reduced.
Maintenance
There may be some small remaining deposits, but these generally appear as a fine dust that is easily wiped away without the need for caustic chemicals or sprays. Inside pipes and appliances and on taps and shower-heads, the flushing action of the newly treated running water should keep them clear and trouble-free.
